Centenary Fly-Past

On December 17, 1903 the two Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, made a short flight lasting just twelve seconds with their biplane “FLYER I”, thus marking the start of the aviation age.  Their achievement gave substance to a dream pursued by human beings for thousands of years – but, as often happens with great undertakings, it was received with a measure of indifference and scepticism by the press and public opinion of the period.  Exactly a century after the first flight – which was destined to have such a profound effect on all our lives, the world is now celebrating this historic event.

AOPA Malta (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association – Malta) together with the MATS (Malta Air Traffic Services Ltd.) coordinated a commemorative fly-past to celebrate the centenary of flight.
